Kudos for Beamish!
May 26, 2005 --
Irish beer drinkers are breathing at least a small sigh of relief today, as Beamish & Crawford have announced that they will not follow suit behind Guinness and Bulmers and increase their prices this year. Earlier this month, Guinness announced that they will be increasing their keg prices in Ireland the equivalent of 4 cents a pint, a move that is expected to add up to 10 cents to the price of a pint in the pub.
But Beamish has announce it will hold the pine on prices, freezing the costs of their kegs through to 2006. The Scottish & Newcastle-owned brewery’s core brands include Beamish Stout, Kronenbourg 1664, Carling and Beamish Red Ale.
“We believe this to be in the best interest of the pub trade and the consumer and look forward to strong support for Beamish & Crawford draught products over the remainder of the year,” said Donall O’Keeffe, chief executive of the Licensed Vintners’ Association.
