A Beer By Any Other Name Would Smell as Sweet
April 23, 2002 --
Through the years, many a pet, possession or sporting event has been named after beer, and vice versa. But an Oregon nursery has certainly gone the extra mile in naming their new hybrid tea rose the Full Sail Rose, after the Hood River brewery of the same name.
According to a press release issued by the Full Sail Brewing Company, Phil Edmunds of Wilsonville, Oregon's Edmunds' Roses so liked the company's beer that he decided its name should be that of the rose.
"We were discussing the naming of the rose over a Full Sail Amber or two," said Edmunds, "And decided we liked the beer so much, we would name a rose after it."
The Full Sail Rose is described as featuring "a frothy display of billowy white bloom with contrasting dark green foliage and an intense heady fragrance." The release further states that once the rose begins to bloom in the spring, it won't stop until late fall.
The Full Sail Rose can be purchased on-line at www.edmundsroses.com or call Edmunds' Roses toll-free at 1-888-481-7673 for more information. More information on Full Sail Brewing may be found at www.fullsailbrewing.com.
