February 1, 2002 -- Molson Inc. CEO Dan O'Neill has stated that the company is searching for a company to acquire. In a report filed by Allan Swift of Canadian Press, Mr. O'Neill is quoted as saying that he agrees with analysts who say the brewer cannot expect to continue growing profits by cost-cutting and that there remain "two or three years" of growth under the status quo.

The search for an acquisition is on-going, says O'Neill. "We have many irons in the fire; we're confident they will materialize."

O'Neill further stated that an announcement should be ready by the time of Molson's annual meeting in June.
