The Great British Beer Festival

Location: Olympia (exhibition venue in the Kensington area of London)

Now in its 23rd year, the Great British Beer Festival (GBBF) is a huge celebration of real ale, ciders, perries and beers from the continent and around the world. The range of cask ales is unrivalled, including beers from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Also featured are pub games, food and live entertainment.
Hours: August 1 -- 5pm-10.30pm; August 2 -- 11.30am-3pm and 5pm-10.30pm; August 3 --noon-10.30pm; August 4 -- noon-10.30pm; August 5 11am-7pm
Admission: £5, £1.50, £5, £6, £6, £4 - respectively; ticket for all sessions £16.

August 11 - 13, 2000 - Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Toronto's Festival of Beer

Location: Fort York

A three-day beer festival, featuring breweries from around the world. There will be entertainment, workshops and seminars throughout the weekend. The event will be held at historic Fort York, located on the waterfront in the heart of downtown Toronto, next to the Skydome and the CN Tower.
Hours: Fri., 2 - 8pm; Sat., 12 - 8pm; Sun., 12 - 7pm
Admission: $20/day in advance; $25/day at the gate. (Admission includes 10 tickets used for beer and/or food, a souvenir tasting mug, and festival program.)

August 12, 2000 - Madison, Wisconsin

14th Annual Great Taste of the Midwest

Location: Olin-Turville Park

The Madison Homebrewers and Tasters Guild annually assembles a selection of about 400 different beers from almost 100 craft and regional breweries from throughout the Midwestern states. The Great Taste is one of the longest running craft beer festivals in North America, second in longevity only to the Great American Beer Festival.
Hours: 1-6pm
Admission: $20 (includes program, tasting glass and unlimited 2-ounce samples)
