February 2, 2002 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
Lucky Cat Night
Location: Grey Lodge Public House
Like Punxsutawney Phil, the Grey Lodge's "Wissinoming Winnie" is a prognosticator. Unlike Phil who prognosticates weather, Winnie prognosticates beer. At 10pm, with the help of her Inner Circle, she will determine if there will be 6 more weeks of winter beers or if the spring seasonals will arrive early. Featured winter beers will include: the 2002 Debut of Flying Fish HopPhish (cask), Victory Storm King Stout (cask), the made-for-this-event Heavyweight Purrkunacy Black & Tan (draft; that's a blended barrel of Perkuno's Hammer and Lunacy), Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA (cask) and Troegs Oatmeal Stout (draft) and Sam Smith Winter Warmer (bottles).
The return of the Toronado's famous barley wine event. For a little more than a week, owner Dave Keene turns all his taps over to barley wines of all sorts, and invites all comers to sit and sample. This event is so popular that it's not unusual for lines to form outside the bar on the first Saturday.
