Holiday Ale Festival
The only beer festival in the Northwest to be held outdoors in the dark, cold and often wet month of December, the Holiday Ale Festival is truly distinctive. Despite chilly temperatures and often-inclement weather outside, attendees stay warm and dry under a large clear tent that covers the gas-heated venue while allowing for views of the city lights. More than 30 potent winter craft beers are featured at the event, all of which are created specifically to bring warmth and cheer to the holiday season. Festival highlights include on-site food; craft vendors; beer apparel and merchandise; a complimentary root beer garden for minors and designated drivers; mead tasting; a Brewers Brunch (separate admission) and seasonal background music.
Location: Pioneer Courthouse Square, 701 SW Sixth Ave Hours: 11 am to 10 pm Thur-Sat, Noon to 6 pm Sunday Admission: Admission is free. A one-time purchase 2006 souvenir mug is required for tasting beer and costs $4. Patrons pay $4 for each full mug of beer, or $1 for a taste. (Recognizing that not everyone can get away to a great beer event on one month's notice or less, and that many of the events featured here sell out well in advance, this new component of World of Beer's Selected Events page will highlight upcoming events anywhere from just over a month to half-a-year in advance.)
