Is Calvinus beer still around? I can't pull up their website.
- Joel
I haven't heard anything that would lead me to believe that Locher has discontinued Calvinus. But you should remember that it is a small production brand for the brewery. Contact the brewery at info@appenzellerbier.ch for more info.
I was looking for a beer of the month club (preferably micro) that ships to Canada. I'm not having any luck - it looks like most of them operate only in the U.S. Do you know of any in Canada or that ship to Canada?
- Annette
This is a question I get all the time. I'm afraid, however, that there are no beer-of-the-month clubs active in Canada.
I tried Le Chaudron's Chanvre Rouge for the first time this week. When I looked it up in your book (The Great Canadian Beer Guide, 2nd Edition) to see what you said about it, I noticed that it's mis-spelled there as 'Chauvre'.
Isn't it illegal to grow cannabis? Where do they get it from, if there's really any in the beer?
- Robert Funnell
Thanks for pointing out the over-enthusiastic editing. We strive for accuracy, but unfortunately mistakes do happen.
In answer to your question, Chanvre Rouge and all other hemp beers in Canada are breweed with hemp, not cannabis. The government is very strict in monitoring such products to make certain there is no THC content.
I was at a race last week and saw a T-shirt I am trying to locate. The front read: "If I had all the money I had spent on beer..." and the back read: "I would spend it on beer." The undersign was "World of Beer. Could you e-mail where I could purchase this shirt? Thank you .
- Mary Jane Raymond
I appreciate the sentiment, but it's not a worldofbeer.com shirt. Sorry I can't help.
