Re: Deceptive names, deceptive drinks
Amen, and well said! Somehow this should be covered by the laws on misleading advertising.

Thanks for the comments, Geoff. Maybe some day it will, but I won't be holding my breath.
I am looking for a certain Scottish beer, I can't remember the name, but do know what the bottle looks like. Can you help me with a website or other source to locate it?
Thanks
-- Charles Neely
You may locate it in Michael Jackson's book, 'Ultimate Beer.' It lists a great many brews and is lavishly illustrated, so there is at least a chance you could find your bottle within its pages.
Please advise where I can locate a listing of ALL beers produced by country in the world. I have many books but regrettably, they are incomplete. Any help will be appreciated. I would be happy to locate a website where I can obtain this info.

Any such list would by its very nature be incomplete, as new brands are constantly being launched by breweries large and small world-wide. For this reason, I know of no source to recommend, aside from the books you say you already have.
I own a small liquor store near Cape Town in South Africa. A client has requested some information about a beer called "Jupilar." Can you help???
-- Hannes Baard
Jupiler is a lager brewed by Interbrew in Belgium. It is their basic, run-of-the-mill beer, popular in that country but not really sold elsewhere. I do not believe that Interbrew even offers it for export, relying instead on their 'status brand,' Stella Artois.
Perhaps your client has heard the rumours about Interbrew preparing a take-over bid for South African Breweries and wants an advance peek at what might be coming down the line...
