I have recently returned from my 2 week beer trip to Belgium. What a fabulous time! But I do have to say that I wouldn't have made it without Stephen D'Arcy's Guide to Brussel's Bars. Thanks for the perfect recommendation!

p.s. Congrats on your new venture, beerbistro. I'll be there this wknd for a visit.
Thanks, Dave. As I type these words, I'm just finishing a trip in Belgium myself, and yes, I had Stephen D'Arcy's guide along with me the whole way.
I read your review of the Alaskan Big Nugget Barley Wine, which made we wish I lived on the left coast. You made reference to a barley wine tasting in LA. My wife and I are BIG fans of barley wine style beers. Do you know a web site that would list any barley wine tasting and/or barley wine festivals? Also, extreme beers. Thanks,

Try beerfestivals.org. There's a wealth of info there.
I am trying to find out what you consider to be the greatest factors affecting the brewing industry today? Thanks!

Basically, I think the single biggest issue facing the industry today is company consolidation. It is both a blessing and a curse in that the bigger breweries tend to produce ever more boring brands and so leave lots of room to be filled by the little guys. At the same time, however, the marketing muscle of the brewing behemoths is a very tough animal to fight.
