You have a great web page! I am trying to find out where in Canada (or the US) I can buy Smithwick or Kilkenny beer. Can you help?
- Gary Haug
Thanks for the compliment. As for Smithwicks, you can get it easily enough in Ontario, but it is not at present widely available in the States.
I am interested in visiting beerbistro. Does it have a bar area or is it strictly a dining establishment?
- S Fong
And we'd love to see you there! beerbistro is half bar, half restaurant, so please feel free to come down and check the place out. (For those who haven't heard, beerbistro is a newly opened beer cuisine restaurant and bar in which I am a partner. If you're in the Toronto area, stop by at 18 King Street East, 416-861-8242.)
I just enjoyed reading your Feature on lambics. When you talked about how tenuous their place is in today's' marketplace, it made me wonder about some of those I've tried in the past but not seen for a while. Are Boon, Timmermans and St. Louis still in business? I have a few bottles of Hanssens, Cantillon and Boon in my cellar.
I will do as you suggest, I'll break out a bottle or two for New Year's! Its so much fun spreading good beer (cheer). If I'd tried to do this a couple of years ago with these friends, they'd not be receptive. Its amazing how many people you can inspire to learn more and to enjoy different styles of beer just by sharing and explaining. Thanks for showing the way.

Thank you for your comments. It's a pleasure for me to 'show the way,' as it were, and even more of a thrill when I hear back from appreciative people. In answer to your question, all of the lambic producers you mention are still in business, hopefully now and for a long time to come.
Do you by any chance know of brewhouses that have gone out of business as I would like to purchase there equipment?
