Hi Stephen,
I recently noticed that Unibroue has come out with a "new" brand, La Seigneuriale. I obviously made the link to the Boucherville, Québec, brewery purchased by Sleeman some years ago and wondered if they had decided to transfer the brand to the Unibroue family. I bought a couple of bottles and I tasted the beer, and I thought it was quite enjoyable. Unfortunately, I do not have good tasting notes on the "other" Seigneuriale beer so I was unable to compare the two. The Unibroue version has some caramel, spice and fruit notes, which I remember the old Seigneuriale having, but it's hard to tell just from memory.
I was wondering if you can shed some light on this - is it the same recipe, and if so, is the beer now being brewed in Unibroue's Chambly brewery?
Thanks Stephen,
- Tom Vigeant
When Sleeman took over Unibroue, one of the things they promised was the return of the Seigneuriale brands. You've just experienced the first wave, and yes, it's being brewed in Chambly.
I was quite a fan of those brands when they first came out, especially the flagship, which I thought was somewhat Orval-esque. I'm looking forward to trying it.
I would like to thank you for your site. It is very interesting. Could you tell me please, where can I get the phone numbers of Egyptian breweries? Thank you for your services.
Sincerely,
- Mouloud
I'm not familiar with any Egyptian breweries, but I would suggest a good place to try might be the Egyptian Tourist Authority. They have offices in Brussels and Wein, and an English language website at egypttourism.com. Happy hunting!
Stephen,
Wow!!!!!!!! Thanks for putting us the map. Four medals at the state fair in '04, Two medals at GABF in '04 and now Toronado. It's been an incredible nine months! Thanks for making us you TOTM in March. We have been telling everyone to check it out. If you ever are in the city again, please take a trek 50 miles east and check out Schooner's.
Talk to you soon,

It was an easy beer to champion, Shawn. Next time I'm through the Bay Area, I'll see about making the run out to Antioch.
And in response to an earlier question about a brand called Bone Dry Beer (worldofbeer.com/9811/feedback.html), a reader writes:
Bone Dry Beer had a limited test run in the late 1990s.
