Hello,
Some years ago I enjoyed a beer in Paris that had whiskey or scotch added. Do you have any idea what it might have been called?
Thank you,
Doreen
You're probably referring to Adelscott, which is a beer brewed with peated malt, also known as "whisky Malt" since it's what gives Scottish whiskies their smoky flavour. The brand is owned by Heineken, but I'm not certain if it's yet imported into the States.
Another of the same style is Raftman, from the Quebec brewery Unibroue, which you might have an easier time finding.
Hi, We're going to Florida at xmas time (from Toronto, Ontario) and are wondering if there is any gluten free beer we could buy while there. Up here in our liquor stores we have one gluten free beer called Le Messagère, out of Quebec, but we can't bring it down to Florida because of the import rules.
If I could find gluten free beer in Florida, my husband would be very happy with the surprise.
Thanks in Advance
Liz
Liz, may I introduce you to the man most knowledgeable about gluten-free beer in the United States, Jay Brooks, seen here on the cc line of this message (and highlighted in this month's Feature). If there's anything to know about gluten-free in Florida, Jay should know it.
And BTW, so long as you declare it to the border guards, there should be no problem with you bringing beer into the States for personal consumption.
Is there a Lambic Festival or tour in Belgium in 2007?

The excellent "Night of Large Thirst" won't happen again until 2008, but there will be a "Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation" again in May, 2007. You can find details here: http://www.bierpallieters.tk.
